| | impressed | ] | Dear all. In honor of all the great artistes in the world, I have decided to honor an artiste every month. That artiste has proven to have an outstanding contribution to the performing arts. I call those people, Legends. They have become a bridge for us all, Paving the road for us even before we were born. I am proud to honor the Legend of the Month to the legendary, Miss. Dolly Parton.
Dolly Parton

In the great Smokey Mountains, Music rises out of the mist. In a shack in the hills she was born, The fourth of twelve children. Dolly was making up songs before she could write them down and she sang her way onto a radio show. “I had big dreams!” she said, “I knew I could be a star.” The day after high school graduation, She packed her music and her hairspray and headed out for Nashville.
The girls with guitars were a dime of a dozen, but there was something in her voice that was tender and true. Porter Wagoner had the biggest TV show in country music and he picked Dolly to be his new regular guest.
Their hits together made her known, but her solos made her Nashville’s famous star. It was time for her to stand alone and she knew that Porter would take it hard. So she wrote him a song. The words spoke “Goodbye, please don’t cry. Cause we both know, I’m not what you need. But I will always love you.” “I had so many feelins’ inside me.” She said, “Writin’ was just my way.”
But the big city of America knew nothing about country music. Or really cared. Country’s biggest star would teach them a thing or two! Her first new crossover song sold a million records. “I’m not leavin’ country!” she said, “I’m takin’ it with me!” No matter how far her journey took her. Her new songs always talked about going back home. The time was music of the mountains made new.
Dolly’s gift to us all.
